Applies to

  • ONTAP 9
  • Connectivity, Liveliness and Availability Monitor (CLAM)

Description

When a node does not respond to a CLAM heartbeat request over the cluster network, CLAM will notify that a node is out of quorum. When a system goes down for any reason, heartbeats to it will fail, and each node in the cluster will send an AutoSupport regarding the specific node being out of CLAM quorum. This is expected behavior, whether the node is taken over due to manual reasons such as maintenance or an upgrade, or for panics or power outages.

For further information, see: What is CLAM.
