How to determine why a lif is on a certain port or node
Applies to
- ONTAP 9
- Clustered Data ONTAP 8
Description
When lifs failover based on various rules and scenarios, the location of a logical interface (LIF) is not always as expected.
- Incorrect LIF failover settings will cause LIFs to migrate to ports where they might not be accessible.
- A link break in the environment (like a switch power reset) will trigger a LIF migration, which might have gone unnoticed.
- A storage failover (SFO) will also cause LIFs to migrate. If auto-giveback is enabled, an SFO event may have gone unnoticed resulting in LIFs not being home.
