Answer

  • FTP and HTTP are the only supported methods for Automated Non-Disruptive Upgrade (ANDU) (i.e. through System Manager or cluster image update  command)
  • FTP, HTTP, HTTPS, and FILE (for USB) are supported for manual upgrades completed with the advanced command system node image update
  • SFTP is not supported to move image to cluster for ONTAP upgrades
