Can we use the same MIB file for SNMP communication across all ONTAP versions?

No, the ONTAP MIB file cannot be used across all versions of  ONTAP.  This is because SNMP Object mapping can vary from one ONTAP version to another.

  • The latest versions of the ONTAP® MIBs and traps.dat files are available on the NetApp® Support site.
  • The versions of these files on the website do not necessarily correspond to the SNMP capabilities of your installed ONTAP® version. 
  •  The version of the MIB that is in the /mroot/etc/mib directory of your system is authoritative.
