Issue

  • Volumes are not tiering cold data to the cloud tier.
  • The tiering policy is set to auto, and the minimum cooling days are set to 90.
  • Aggregate has met the default tiering fullness threshold (50% by default) and capacity threshold.
  • From "volume show-footprint", we do see some of the data is tiered.

  • EMS logs indicate that tiering is occurring:

[Node-01: scan_ca_tiering_wkr: wafl.scan.start:debug]: Starting composite aggregate tiering on volume volume1@vserver:xxxx.

[Node-01: wafl_scan_exempt: wafl.scan.done:notice]: Completed composite aggregate tiering on volume volume1@vserver:xxxx.

  • The command "object-store tiering show -instance" confirms that tiering is happening regularly, with no reported errors.

  • Triggering tiering manually has no effect on the amount of data tiered.
