Changing TLS verification settings with security key-manager external modify can prevent ONTAP from connecting to an external KMIP key server without detecting the connectivity failure when the change is applied.
After the change, the following symptoms can occur:
  • External key manager status reports connectivity errors.
  • Health monitoring reports key server connectivity issues.
  • Encryption keys cannot be restored after a node reboot, potentially causing data unavailability.
  • Key creation fails, preventing creation of encrypted volumes, encrypted aggregates, or NetApp Storage Encryption keys.
