SPAutoUpgradeFailedMajorAlert is displayed and SP automatic update is stuck at 5 percent

Issue

  • The following alert message appears in EMS after upgrading ONTAP.

[?] Sat Jan 14 11:04:15 JST [node 2: nphmd: hm.alert.raised:alert]: Alert Id = SPAutoUpgradeFailedMajorAlert , Alerting Resource = SP Upgrade raised by monitor controller

 

  • SP firmware on node2 is failing.

  • From the output of the system service-processor show, node 2 updates are stuck at 5%.

  • Attempted SP manual update but no response.

  • Accessing the SP via SSH does not respond, so updating SP firmware via BMC is not possible.
