SFP not supported alert on X710 Ethernet Controller Card

Issue

  • Link down on X1147A: 10Gigabit Ethernet Controller X710 SFP+ with INTEL Corp SFPs
  • EMS-LOG-FILE show that the SFP is not supported

Node-01 ERROR netif.sfpNotSupported: The SFP+ or QSFP+ module (Intel Corp AFBR-709DMZ-IN3 ) installed in e4a is not supported with this network interface.
Node-01 NOTICE vifmgr.portdown: A link down event was received on node Node-01, port e4a.

  • Checking SYSCONFIG -A we can see that the mentioned port is not showing any info

  •  Confirmed that the SFP is supported using Hardware Universe
  • Even after SFP replacement the issue remains
  • Checking IFCONFIG-VVVM logs on the Node we see there is activity indicating the SFP is active

        RX: 0.48 mW (-3.17 dBm) TX: 0.59 mW (-2.28 dBm) 

  • Checking the switch side we can also see activity on the port
