GiveBack during upgrade aborted and subsequent TakeOver not possible due to failed to disable BDFU on source node

Issue

  • During non-disruptive ONTAP upgrade, the first node in the HA partner upgrades successfully
  • The partner upgrade completes But is left in a  partial giveback.

Example 1

Tue Jan 07 17:33:10 CET [cluster: cf_giveback: sfo.giveback.aborted.bdfu:error]: Giveback is aborted: node01 took more 
than 120 seconds to finish the background disk firmware update.

Example 2

An optimized negotiated takeover of the HA partner node by the local node has been aborted.
Reason: failed to disable background disk firmware update (BDFU) on partner node
