Not all disks in a shelf are visible

Issue

  • One or more disks in (newly attached) shelf are not visible
  • The following error is reported in the event logs:

[NODE: sanown_io: disk.tooManySpindles:alert]: Found 504 disks, but maximum of 480 disks are supported on this system. All additional disks will be ignored. This problem must be resolved before the system is rebooted.

  • In a MetroCluster configuration, if the disk exceeds the limit after a switchover, the extra disks will be seen as unknown:
