Multiple fans have failed and system shuts down on FAS25xx systems

Issue

  • System is shutting down minutes after power on
  • EMS

[node-01:monitor.globalStatus.critical:EMERGENCY]: Controller failover of NSH-FAS-01 is not possible: Controller Failover takeover disabled. Disk shelf fault.
[node-01:monitor.fan.critical:EMERGENCY]: 2 fans have failed. Replace them to avoid overheating. If not corrected, system will shutdown in 2 minutes.
[node-01:callhome.fans.failed:EMERGENCY]: Call home for MULTIPLE FAN FAILURE
[node-01:monitor.globalStatus.critical:EMERGENCY]: Controller failover of NSH-FAS-01 is not possible: Controller Failover takeover disabled. Multiple fans has failed. Power Supply Status Critical: PSU1. Disk shelf fault.

  • Physical inspection of PSU FANs show to be standing still
