Answer

  • Two NS224 disk shelves can be added directly to an AFF A400 HA pair using ports e0c, e0d, e5a, and e5b.
  • To add more than two NS224 shelves in an HA pair of AFF A400 systems, storage switches are required:
    • Prior to ONTAP 9.9.1:
      • Two dedicated storage switches for NS224 storage, separate from cluster interconnect switches.
    • ONTAP 9.9.1 and later:
      • Shared cluster interconnect and storage supported on Cisco Nexus 9336C-FX2 switches.
