Issue

  • Node unexpectedly shuts down
  • EMS event reports:
Call home for BATTERY capacity low WARNING
  • No results when looking for battery events with event log show -severity * -event *battery*
  • system battery show output:
    • Current field shows "0 mA"
    • RelativeCharge field show below 71%
    • ChargingCurrent field shows "1000 mA"
  • Console messages when attempting to boot ONTAP:
"the NVMEM battery capacity is low (1 cycles)"
Call home for BATTERY capacity low WARNING
battery charge capacity: 100 mA*hr..
 
WARNING: The battery is unfit to retain data during a power
outage. This is likely because the battery is
discharged but could be due to other temporary conditions.
When the battery is ready, the boot process will
complete and services will be engaged.

To override this delay, press 'c' followed by 'Enter
  • When booting ONTAP the console is stuck on:
Waiting for nvram battery chargeup
  • Running system battery show between intervals of 5 or more minutes shows Voltage is going down
  • Running system battery show between longer intervals may show RelativeCharge is going down
