Ethernet port down to Cisco switch after ONTAP reboot, link disabled due to flapping

Issue

  • After ONTAP reboot (which could be part of ONTAP upgrade), one or more Ethernet ports, not in interface group(s), fail to come back online that were previously up
  • Cisco switch logging (from show logging log or show tech-support) indicates port is disabled for link flapping:
%ETHPORT-2-IF_DOWN_ERROR_DISABLED: Interface Ethernet1/1/2 is down (Error disabled. Reason:Too many link flaps)
