Issue

  • System Manager shows a grayed out slot as if there is a disk in an empty bay.
  • No SN or additional information is shown when examining the slot in System Manager.
  • No disk is showing in the system node run -node <nodename> -command sysconfig -a output for this slot.
  • The disk bay is reporting NONCRITICAL in the storage show fault output:

Enclosure Status: non-critical
Channel: 0x
Shelf: 1
Shelf Type: NS224NSM100B
Module Type: NSM100B

Disk Elements:
Element Status                  Status Bytes  Status Descriptions
  0 [Bay  0]: OK                01,00,00,00
  1 [Bay  1]: OK                01,01,00,00
 [...]
 11 [Bay 11]: NONCRITICAL       03,0B,00,00
 12 [Bay 12]: NOT INSTALLED     05,0C,00,00
 13 [Bay 13]: NOT INSTALLED     05,0D,00,00

  • Placing a known good spare into the slot does not resolve the issue.
