ANDU paused due to node going unresponsive after takeover

Issue

  • ANDU paused with error messages and impacted node became unresponsive:

[NodeName: upgrademgr: upgrademgr.update.pausedErr:error]: The automated update of the cluster has been paused due to the following reason:  Node "NodeName01": Error: {Node "NodeName02" is not in "waiting for giveback" state.}, 
Action: {Use the "storage failover show" to verify that node "NodeName02" is in one of the following states: "waiting for giveback" or "connected".}

HA Group Notification (AUTOMATED NDU PAUSED ON NODE: NodeName01) ALERT

  • Page hangs on SP/BMC after attempting to access LOADER with boot_ontap command
  • Node doesn't recover after:
    • SP/BMC reboot and reset
    • Hard power cycle via a motherboard reseat
