AFF A400 port errors on unused port with SFP

Issue

  • Sysconfig -A Port shows link up or flapping with SFP but no cable inserted:

slot 0: 10G/25G Ethernet Controller CX5-Mezz
e0e MAC Address: d0:22:ef:97:00:0d (auto-25g_sr-fd-up)
SFP Vendor: AVAGO
SFP Part Number: AFBR-725SMZ-NA1
SFP Serial Number: AD2016G02TZ

EMS logs

vifmgr.port.monitor.failed: The "link_flapping" health check for port e0e (node node-01) has failed. The port is operating in a degraded state.
 
  • CRC errors can be reported by the port:
EMS
[node-01: vifmgr: vifmgr.cluscheck.crcerrors:alert]: Port e0f on node node-01 is reporting a high number of observed hardware errors, possibly CRC errors.
 
  •  ifstat

    ::> system node run -node <node> -command ifstat -a
