AFF-A300 network interfaces flapping after data switch migration
Applies to
- NetApp AFF-A300
- QLogic CNA 8324/8362 adapters
- Dell EMC S5296F-ON (SmartFabric OS10)
Issue
- During a core network switch migration, both controllers of the AFF-A300 cluster experienced severe and repeated flapping of all physical network interfaces (e0e, e0f, e0g, e0h) within their interface groups.
- Ports intermittently left and rejoined the interface group, resulting in loss of connectivity and access to data.
- Multiple production application outages and corruption reported
- Several SQL clusters remain in a degraded state, causing management concern over storage platform reliability.
- CRC errors were observed on affected ports during the incident.
- The issue was isolated to AFF-A300 systems; other NetApp systems (AFF-A800, FAS-8300) did not experience similar problems when connected to the same new switches.
