CONTAP-94343: BMC and ONTAP Certificate Mismatch Can Interrupt Management Communication

Issue

A mismatch or corruption in certificate or TLS cipher settings between ONTAP and the Baseboard Management Controller (BMC) can cause their management communication to fail. When this occurs, commands and APIs that rely on that communication—such as {}system node environment sensors show{}—may not return the expected information.
A mismatch can occur if a configuration change is not synchronized while the BMC is unavailable or busy, or if a certificate expires. The enhancement adds periodic checks and synchronization, along with recovery attempts when a failure is detected, to help restore communication.
