CONTAP-671032: Unexpected reboot due to delays during a clean system shutdown
Issue
- During a clean shutdown initiated by the halt or storage failover command, the serial console blocks waiting for the hardware to acknowledge transmission of the last character (indicating that it is ready for more characters).
- The console output is set to "unmuted"
- The lack of progress in the halt process is detected by the OS, resulting in an unexpected reboot and core dump.
- The following is an example message:
Panic String: Shutdown taking longer than 930 seconds in process nodewatchdog on release 9.16.1P3 (C)
