  • On systems based on the NS224NSM16E or NS224NSM8E shelf chassis, the enclosure management process ({}enclmgmtd{}) might abort and restart after a temporary loss of communication between the dual shelf modules.
  • When this occurs, EMS reports an enclmgmtd ucore panic followed by an automatic service restart.
  • Shelf module status may briefly show as unknown or offline, then return to online after the process and module communication recover.
  • Storage data path impact is typically limited to a transient enclosure-management disruption; the condition has been observed as a single occurrence on an affected system.
  • Observed on ONTAP 9.16.1P9 with NS224NSM16E module firmware 0140.
