Description
- This article explains how to check the lif reachablity in a MetroCluster configuration.
- LIF placement between clusters in MetroCluster is not decided on a 1:1 naming basis. The primary factor used to determine suitable a port to be used for placement is reachability, as determined by an ARP broadcast.
- The broadcast is triggered from each connected port on the site with the -mc vserver, the destination for the LIF in event of switchover. Each port that receives a response to the ARP broadcast is marked as eligible for placement.
- If the port already hosts its own LIF in the same subnet a broadcast is not sent. Instead it is simply marked as eligible for placement.
