Upgrade from ONTAP 9.10.1 or earlier to ONTAP 9.11.1 or later

Issue

  • The error ERR_SSL_KEY_USAGE_INCOMPATIBLE is shown when trying to access System Manager.

Error on System Manager "ERR_SSL_KEY_USAGE_INCOMPATIBLE" after upgrading ONTAP

  • Any of these three conditions can result in this error:
    • After upgrading from ONTAP 9.10.1 or earlier to ONTAP 9.11.1 or later
    • After upgrading from one patch version to another on ONTAP 9.11.1
    • After upgrading to ONTAP 9.13.1 or later with a cluster admin vserver certificate (self-signed) that was created with ONTAP 9.10.1 or earlier
    • After rebooting the cluster nodes for any reason

Note: The error can also be shown when attempting to collect ONTAP logs using SPI (Service Processor Interface).
