  • From GUI (ONTAP System Manager) , the following error is reported while enabling encryption
Error: command failed: Cannot determine the status of the authentication keys of one or more self-encrypting drives. Check for storage transport or device errors.
  • From CLI: Disk 1.0.13 is missing
Cluster01::> storage encryption disk show
Disk     Mode Data Key ID
-------- ---- -----------

1.0.10   open
1.0.11   open
1.0.12   open
1.0.13   miss -

  • Failing and unfailing of the affected disk does not help
cluster1::> storage disk fail -disk 1.0.13 -i true
cluster1::*> storage disk unfail -disk 1.0.13
  • Removing the disk 1.0.13 from node-01 and then re-inserting after 2 min did not help and still showing as missing
  • Upon swapping the disk from 1.0.13 with 1.0.22, drive 1.0.22 is shown as missing. Below is the command output.

Cluster01::> storage encryption disk show
