How to locate Brocade serial numbers and use them to identify switch types.
Brocade switch models can be identified by running the switchshow
command, or through the use of the Brocade serial number.

Determining the Brocade switch type based on the output of the switchshow
command:

In the example above, the switch type is 71 (revision 2) which is the Brocade 300 switch.
Determining the Brocade switch type using the serial number
Locations of Brocade switch serial numbers:
- 200e: S/N label located on the non-port side of unit.
- 4100: S/N is located on pull-out tab on port side of unit.
- 5000: S/N is located on pull-out tab on port side of unit.
- 7500: S/N is located on pull-out tab on port side of unit.
- 4900: S/N is located on pull-out tab on port side of unit.
- 48000 Director: S/N is located on inside right side of chassis (must open door to see).

A 200E switch returns the following:

A Brocade 5000 returns the following:

A Brocade 5100 gives you Part Num:
SLKWRM0000510
A Brocade 4100 gives you Part Num:
SLKWRM0000410
and so on.
