Repeated Brocade FC switch reboots after VMware ESXi update

  • Brocade Fabric OS (FOS) v9.2.2a
  • VMware ESXI 8.0 U2+
  • FCoE Virtual F_Port (VF_Port) configured with Fibre Channel Link Aggregation (FC-LAG) to a Cisco UCS Fabric Interconnect (FI)

Issue

  • After an update to a Cisco UCS / ESXi host, switch started rebooting repeatedly
  • errdump shows Processor rebooted - Software Fault:ASSERT.
  • Switch persistently disabled after about 50 minutes
  • Manually enabling switch again with switchcfgpersistentenable results in another reboot
