Brocade FC switch nondisruptive upgrade path had a disruptive reboot

Issue

  • Device attached to Brocade switch sees link break/port offline during an upgrade that is expected to be nondisruptive, example ONTAP EMS logs:

Link break detected on Fibre Channel target HBA 2a with event status 1 , topology type 1, status1 0x0, status2 0x0.

  • errdumpall from supportsave logs shows a port lost sync during the upgrade:
