iSCSI connections are lost on some hosts after E-Series controller replacement

Applies to

  • E-Series
  • SANtricity OS
  • Linux DM-MP (Device Mapper Multipath)
  • Controller replacement was performed

Issue

  • Some hosts loose iSCSI connection(s) after replacement of E-Series controller
  • Recovery Guru and MAJOR-EVENT-LOG (MEL) reports the following errors:
    • Loss of host-side connection redundancy detected
    • Volume not on preferred path due to AVT/RDAC failover
    • ALB_HOST_REDUNDANCY_LOST
    • NON_PREFERRED_PATH
  • Redistribute volumes temporary resolves these errors but they are detected again after several minutes
  • No configuration changes performed both on controller and host other than the controller replacement
  • STATE-CAPTURE-DATA > spmShow indicates that the replaced controller does not have iSCSI connections from some hosts that the partner controller has
