Issue

  • The host team reported elevated I/O waits and application unresponsiveness for a VM using the NetApp LUN . 
  • The VM experienced SCSI aborts and reset errors, and the database became inaccessible. 
  • No alerts or errors reported on the E-Series storage system during the issue window.
  • iSCSI session logs showed stable connections; no disconnections or port failures.
  • MEL (Major Event Log) and Recovery Guru: No relevant events.
  • Performance metrics: No abnormal latency or IOPS drops on storage during the incident.
  • Impact was limited to a single VM; other VMs on the same LUN were unaffected.
