OTV: "Authentication failed" alerts seen in ONTAP audit logs after storage credentials change

  • vSphere APIs for Storage Awareness Provider (VP)


ONTAP logs the following invalid login errors coming from OTV: 

EMS errors:

ALERT         security.invalid.login: Failed to authenticate login attempt to Vserver: <vserver-name>,
username: <username>, application: ontapi.

Audit.log errors:

vserver:ontapi :: <vsc-ip>:58342 :: vserver:username:: Login Attempt :: Error: Authentication failed.
vserver:ontapi :: <vsc-ip>:58342 :: vserver:username :: POST /servlets/netapp.servlets.admin.XMLrequest_filer HTTP/1.1 
:: Error: 401 Unauthorized
