Description

Performing an Active IQ Unified Manager upgrade helps gain new features and functionality, a more stable and supportable release, and resolves known issues. Here's the procedure to upgrade Active IQ Unified Manager (AIQUM).

Procedure

  1. Use the NetApp Interoperability Matrix to confirm the desired version of AIQUM is supported in your environment
    1. Add the Active IQ Unified Manager solution
    2. Select View Refine Search Criteria
    3. Check the desired version of AIQUM
    4. If you need to upgrade the OS to a supported version the recommendation is to deploy a new host with the desired version and migrate Unified Manager to the new host.
  2. Determine a supported upgrade path
    1. Unified Manager upgrades are limited to an N-2 model, meaning an upgrade can only be performed within the next 2 releases
      1. An example upgrade path from AIQUM 9.7 to AIQUM 9.11 is as follows: Upgrade from 9.7 to 9.9 -> Upgrade from 9.9 to 9.11
  3. Download the desired version from the NetApp Support Site
  4. Create a virtual machine backup
  5. Remove Workflow Automation (WFA) if integrated with Unified Manager
  6. Reserve memory and CPU resources on the VM
    1. Remove any limits on CPU and memory reservation
  7. Perform the upgrade steps based on your platform
    1. Virtual Appliance (OVA)
    2. Windows
    3. RedHat and CentOS
  8. If using WFA, upgrade to the latest WFA pack
    1. Add WFA integration back to AIQUM
