Applies to

  • ActiveIQ Unfied Manager (AIQUM)
  • Microsoft Windows Server

Answer

  • Yes, updating Windows can be done on an AIQUM server but it is NOT recommended.
  • Check the compatibility of the Windows OS with the AIQUM version in the Netapp IMT (Interoperability Matrix Tool)
  • Ensure that you take a MySQL backup before proceeding with the Windows upgrade.
  • It is highly recommended that you also take a VM snapshot(if the host is a VM).
    • This will be the fastest method for recovery for post-upgrade OS or AIQUM issues.
  • Be sure to stop the Unified Manager services prior to performing the OS upgrade.
  • Once this is done, you can proceed with the In-Place upgrade of the Windows OS.
  • The upgrade procedure for Windows OS can be found on Microsoft's Official help pages.
