Can the version of Windows be upgraded on a server hosting Active IQ Unified Manager?
Applies to
- ActiveIQ Unfied Manager (AIQUM)
- Microsoft Windows Server
Answer
- Yes, updating Windows can be done on an AIQUM server but it is NOT recommended.
- The recommended practice is to migrate Unified Manager to a host running the desired version of Windows.
- Note: This is not a scenario that is tested with Unified Manager.
- Check the compatibility of the Windows OS with the AIQUM version in the Netapp IMT (Interoperability Matrix Tool)
- Ensure that you take a MySQL backup before proceeding with the Windows upgrade.
- It is highly recommended that you also take a VM snapshot(if the host is a VM).
- This will be the fastest method for recovery for post-upgrade OS or AIQUM issues.
- Be sure to stop the Unified Manager services prior to performing the OS upgrade.
- Once this is done, you can proceed with the In-Place upgrade of the Windows OS.
- The upgrade procedure for Windows OS can be found on Microsoft's Official help pages.
