StorageGRID SNS notifications not delivered after node replacement

Issue

  • After replacing and decommissioning storage nodes, SNS notifications for S3 PUT operations were not delivered.
  • Pending notifications quickly exceeded 50,000, causing S3 PUT failures with the error: Too many platform service messages are pending. Lower the request rate.
  • Platform Services Processing dashboard from the Grid Manager Metrics page and # sudo rsmtool pending --option summary command confirms a high pending count.
