A single drawer failure causes Unknown state of StorageGRID storage node

Applies to

  • StorageGRID appliances SG5760, SG5860, SG6000, and SG6160
  • E-Series
  • SANtricity OS 11.70 and later
  • A failed drawer was replaced
  • RAID mode is DDP16

Issue

  • StorageGRID storage node is in Unknown status after a replacement of failed single drawer on its storage controller
  • SANtricity System Manager indicates all Disk Pools and volumes are in Failed status
  • Volume failure is detected in storage controller

E-Series Notification (Volume failure) CRITICAL

  • StorageGRID Appliance Installer (https://<APPLIANCE_IP>:8443) Home displays Start Installation

  • StorageGRID Appliance Installer does not have Reboot into StorageGRID option in Advanced > Reboot Controller
