Description

Allow Strong-global consistency control to provide site failure tolerance for client requests when StorageGRID systems have three or more sites.

  • Strong-global consistency in StorageGRID 11.9 and earlier ensures read-after-write consistency across all sites, but  requires ALL sites to be available for client writes and deletes to be successful.
  • StorageGRID 12.0 supports Quorum semantics for strong-global consistency, allowing for site failure tolerance for client requests when grids have three or more sites, while still ensuring read-after-write consistency across all sites.

This article provides the procedure and support information about changing the behaviour of strong-global consistency between Quorum semantics and previous semantics.
