StorageGRID installer page displays 500 Bad Gateway error

Issue

When attempting to access the StorageGRID Appliance Installer GUI during a node installation, the following error is displayed:

500 Bad gateway; The StorageGRID Appliance API service is not responding
  • The node IP can be accessed via SSH and can be pinged
  • The error blocks installation or reinstallation of the StorageGRID node
  • No changes were made to node IP configuration
  • Log output (from mgmt-api.log and nginx/error.log) may show connection errors or refused connections to controller IPs
