Issue

  • After a hotfix is installed on StorageGRID 12.1.0 or later, a security scan may report that an internal file is world-writable.
    • The file is /var/local/gdu-server/hotfix-version-cache.json.
  • The file is created only when a hotfix has been applied. Grids that have never been hotfixed do not have it.
  • Any local account could write the file. The condition is not remotely exploitable. Scanners can still rate the finding as severe.
