SCV restore fails by "Single File Snapshot Restore Failed" since Snapshot is deleted

Issue

  • SCV restore job fails by following error:

Exception while calling restore on SCV: Restore failed with exception: Single File Snapshot Restore Failed:  Failed to perform Single File SnapRestore.

SCV restore fails by Single File Snapshot Restore Failed since Snapshot is deleted

  • vmcontrol_<JOB_ID>.log shows File or snapshot does not exist

Single File Snapshot Restore Failed:  Failed to perform Single File SnapRestore.
Failed to restore file from Snapshot copy <SNAPSHOT> for volume "<VOLUME>" on Vserver "<VSERVER>". Reason: File or snapshot does not exist. 

  • wfe_<JOB_ID>.log also shows error:

DEBUG <SCV_HOST> --- [pool-2-thread-1] c.n.w.r.u.RestClientUtil                 : Connecting to scv url: https://localhost:8144/scbr/smcoreplugin/restore
ERROR <SCV_HOST> --- [pool-2-thread-1] c.n.w.r.SCVRestoreTasksServiceImpl       : Exception while calling restore on SCV: Restore failed with exception: Single File Snapshot Restore Failed:  Failed to perform Single File SnapRestore.
Failed to restore file from Snapshot copy <SNAPSHOT> for volume "<VOLUME>" on Vserver "<VSERVER>". Reason: File or snapshot does not exist. 

  • NetApp Restore task gets stuck at 80% in vSphere Client

SCV restore job fails

  • ONTAP EMS indicates that the Snapshot is deleted right after creation

[<NODE>: snap_helper: wafl.volume.snap.autoDelete:info]: Deleting Snapshot copy '<SNAPSHOT>' in volume '<VOLUME>' to recover storage.
