Backup attempt with SMO or SCO fails accessing the Oracle database with ORA-01034 and ORA-27101

Issue

A backup run from an SMO profile or on an SCO resource group fails with the following error messages, while trying to access the Oracle database:

ORA-01034: ORACLE not available
ORA-27101: shared memory realm does not exist
Linux-x86_64 Error: 2: No such file or directory
