What are the prerequisites for NDMP backup and restore with AIQUM and WFA?
Applies to
- Active IQ Unified Manager (AIQUM)
- OnCommand Unified Manager (OCUM)
- OnCommand Workflow Automation (WFA)
Answer
- Unified Manager (UM) must be connected to WFA server from the UM Web UI
- A SnapMirror license is required for SnapMirror protection
- A SnapVault license is required for backup SnapVault protection
- The following ports need to be open for NDMP communication
Port | Endpoints |
10000 |
|
11104, 11105, 18600 - 18699 | Intercluster (IC) LIFs between clusters |
- Note: You can reduce the port range by using the option
ndmpd.data_port_range
for IC LIFs
vserver services ndmp modify -vserver * -data-port-range 18600-18699
- Vserver scoped needs to be enabled with the NDMP allowed protocols verification
- Create a Vserver NDMP password
- Cluster and vserver peers must be intact and running
- Both source and destination clusters must be added to the UM server and have successful inventory without any errors
- Users/Permissions involved to setup the protection relationship are:
- UM: admin with OnCommand Administrator
- Cluster: Local Cluster Admin Account
- A remote(domain, ldap, saml) user will not work due to not being able to generate an ndmp password for the account on the cluster
- Collect the following information before creating 'SnapMirror' or 'SnapVault' relationships on a source volume:
- Source volume type should be read-write
- Destination cluster name
- Destination Vserver name
- Destination aggregate
