Error when opening ActiveIQ Unified Manager Excel report: The file format and extension of "filename" don't match

Issue
When a scheduled report is exported by OnCommand Unified Manager (UM) and opened within Microsoft Excel the following error is seen:
"The file format and extension of "filename" don't match. The file could be corrupted or unsafe. Unless you trust it source do not open it. Do you want to open it anyway? <Yes> <NO> <Help>
