H410 Power Supply Failure detected and amber light on due to faulty 2U H-series chassis slot

Issue

H410 node in a 2U, four-node H-Series chassis is reporting Power supply unit (PSU) status as Unknown / Not present.

In IPMI/BMC,

  •  PSU alerts logged on the node's BMC Health Event Log
  • Power supply(PS1 Status) Power Supply Failure detected - Assertion.
  • Power supply(PS2 Status) Power Supply Failure detected - Assertion.
  • Power Source page, Power supply status shows as  Not present.
  • Sensor Reading page, the  Power supply information is either not displayed or its status shows as Not present.
  • Hardware Information page, PSU status shows as  Unknown.
  • Node has an amber red light on.
  • Node is up and no cluster faults reported.
  • PSU alert is not reported for the other nodes in the chassis

 NOTE :

  • reseated  the power supplies one at a time.
  • performed node power drain.
  • Moved the node to an empty slot in another chasssis, this resolved the  amber LED and PSU status & alerts.
