Issue

  • Password for the admin user in ONTAP expired. In MGWD.LOG:

0000003b.00f96b93 06fb3513 Tue Oct 31 2023 00:10:31 -04:00 [kern_mgwd:info:3596] 0x820c0a400: 0: ERR: PAM::PASSWD: pam_sm_acct_mgmt:src/pam/pam_passwd.cc:844 Password has expired: Your password has expired. Contact the storage administrator for further assistance.

  • Password was reset from the ONTAP CLI
  • BlueXP shows the CVO in a Failed state and when it is clicked a Password Inconsistency detected error is thrown:

Failed to update credentials for Data ONTAP working environment in BlueXP 

  • When trying to update the newly changed password in the BlueXP GUI this fails with an error:

Failed to update credentials for Data ONTAP working environment: Cluster01 Reason: Invalid ONTAP credentials

  • Logging into System Manager with the new and old password also fails with invalid username/password
