ONTAP SSD TPM3 and TPM4 drives fail with "Failed-Unsupported" after being off for an extended period

Issue

Some customers have experienced multiple drive failures after power on drives after the drives are brought out of storage and repurposed. 

  • This article will deal only with  X358_TPM4V3T8AME, X357_TPM4V3T8AME, and X365_TPM3V1T6AMD drives. 
  • The drives will fail upon power up with a "Failed-Unsupported" error in sysconfig -a:

system node run -node <nodename> -command sysconfig -a

		12.0 : NETAPP   X358_TPM4V3T8AME NA01   0.0GB 0B/sect (Failed-Unsupported)
12.1 : NETAPP   X358_TPM4V3T8AME NA01   0.0GB 0B/sect (Failed-Unsupported)
