Weekly SPARES_LOW error for a Flash Pool or Storage Pool aggregate

Issue

  • After upgrading ONTAP to 9.7P14, the system triggers a warning once per week:

Fri Jun 25 11:53:00 +0200 [node-01: monitor: monitor.globalStatus.nonCritical:error]: There are no enough spare disks.
Fri Jun 25 12:00:00 +0200 [node-01: config_thread: callhome.spares.low:error]: Call home for SPARES_LOW

  • No drive failures.
  • No additional drives added to any of the existing hybrid aggregates.
  • The hybrid aggregate uses RAID4 groups:

Aggregate data_aggr (online, mixed_raid_type, hybrid) (block checksums)
  Plex /data_aggr/plex0 (online, normal, active, pool0)
    RAID group /data_aggr/plex0/rg0 (normal, block checksums, raid_dp)
    RAID group /data_aggr/plex0/rg1 (normal, block checksums, raid4)
      RAID Disk    Device      HA  SHELF BAY CHAN Pool Type  RPM  Used (MB/blks)    Phys (MB/blks)
