Cannot unjoin node from cluster after initializing node without unjoining
Applies to
- ONTAP 9.10.1 and earlier
- Four-node cluster
Issue
In the specific case of a four-node-cluster:
- A node and it's HA partner is wiped or differently removed without unjoining first
- Cluster quorum might get lost if Epsilon was not placed on either of the two remaining nodes
- Subsequently attemping to unjoin the nodes will fail with the following error:
::*> cluster unjoin -node Cluster-node-3 -force
Warning: This command will forcibly unjoin node "Cluster-node-3" from the
cluster. You must unjoin the failover partner as well. This will
permanently remove from the cluster any volumes that remain on that
node and any logical interfaces with that node as the home-node.
