NetApp adopts Microsoft’s Business-to-Customer (B2C) Identity Management
Effective December 3 - NetApp adopts Microsoft’s Business-to-Customer (B2C) identity management to simplify and provide secure access to NetApp resources. For accounts that did not pre-register (prior to Dec 3) access to your NetApp data may take up to 1 hour as your legacy NSS ID is synchronized to the new B2C identity. Description

Setting pre-boot environmental variables are necessary for NetApp Storage Encryption (NSE) storage systems. The NSE bootarg 'bootarg.storageencryption.support true' is set at the factory if NSE drives are present in the controller. The other bootargs listed below are automatically created when the key_manager setup (nodeshell 7-Mode) or the security key-manager setup (clustered Data ONTAP 8.3.1 and later) command is run.

If the storage system is unable to correctly contact the KMIP Key Management Server, it will not be able to boot. This is because the required boot information cannot be decrypted and will, therefore, be unreadable.
