  • ONTAP 9
  • NetApp Volume Encryption (NVE)

Answer

  • No; once a conversion operation is started, it must complete.  The process cannot be cancelled.
  • If performance issues are encountered during the operation, run volume encryption conversion pause to pause the operation, then volume encryption conversion resume command to resume once system load decreases.
  • Starting with ONTAP 9.12.1, the conversion will continue where it left off.  In previous ONTAP releases, the resume requires the conversion to start over on the volume.
  • Alternatively, follow the Enable encryption on an existing volume with the volume move start command procedure.
