Description

  • This article covers attributes that technical support engineers can review and determine the wear-out level of the mSATA device.
  • Hardware replacement may be necessary based on the values described in this article.
    • Starting with 11.30.5R3 / 11.40.3 R2/ 11.50.2, a manual support bundle and AutoSupports will contain mSATA device-related statistics.
      • The statistics will be in the dom0 diagnostic data file (DOM0-DAILY-DIAGNOSTICS-A.7Z).
    • Starting with 11.50.3, a new recovery guru failure entry Persistent cache backup device at end of life was introduced.
      • The failure triggers once the mSATA remaining life reaches the threshold values defined below.
      • In case this failure is reported, the controller in question must be replaced.
    • For systems running a prior version, the SmartmonTools package can be installed on the controller to capture those statistics.
      • This should only be done in extreme situations where the customer cannot immediately upgrade to the above releases.
      • Instructions on how to install this package are listed at the bottom of this article.
