  • ONTAP >=9.10.1 without fix for bug 1508643
  • Node  with >=64 CPU cores, as example AFF-A900
  • HA-Pair with >199 disks assigned in sum

Issue

  • Node loops rebooting due to a kernel panic. The line number following inode.c can vary between different patch levels, 2 examples are known:

PANIC: prod/common/wafl/inode.c:5603: Assertion failure. in SK process wafl_CP_task_scheduler on release 9.10.1P6

PANIC: prod/common/wafl/inode.c:5588: Assertion failure. in SK process wafl_CP_task_scheduler on release 9.10.1P3

  • Any aggr command attempted to execute in maintenance mode results in the identical unexpected reboot with same panic string
